Guy's Biography
Guy Kantak is the owner-operator of The K9 Guy, LLC, providing professional canine services to Worthington, Westerville, Dublin, Columbus, New Albany, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Powell, Gahanna, Grandview, Delaware, and other Central Ohio communities.
Guy has been a Central Ohio resident for more than 30 years. He is an OSU graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology, and work experience during his college years as a technician in a local Emergency Room. During this time Guy also gained certification as a Paramedic and began additional part-time work with two area Fire Departments.
Shortly after graduation from OSU, Guy's part-time experience led to a full-time career in the Fire Service. During the past 25 years he has worked in many different capacities including Paramedic, Apparatus Operator / Engineer, Captain in charge of both Ladder and Rescue Companies, Emergency Medical Services Coordinator, and a Battalion Chief. The Fire Service offered many opportunities to deal with distressed or angry animals, as crews entered homes where owners were gone, ill, or otherwise unable to control their pets.
While this career path was truly rewarding, Guy held some regrets for not pursuing work involving those creatures with which he always shared a deep, empathic connection - dogs. With these wonderful animals a very prominent part of his own life, Guy wanted to help others enjoy more fulfilling, enjoyable, and respectful lives with their own dogs. Understanding the importance of education and validation, he began a new path of study to further his knowledge of dogs and certify his skills toward that goal.

In 2007 Guy attended the
National K-9 School for Dog Trainers. This professional school is approved by The Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools, and teaches dog professionals from around the world. During an intense, hands-on program, Guy successfully completed the Obedience, Behavior, and Master Trainer Courses. Guy received endorsements in Basic and Advanced Obedience, Behavior Modification, Breed Identification, Tracking, Personal Protection, Police K-9, Scent Detection, Utility, Puppy Development, Assistance Dog, and Retrieval.
With graduation from National K-9, Guy became a Certified Professional Trainer. He is an associate member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (to which The Dog Whisperer / Cesar Millan's website refers visitors seeking local professionals), and a member of the National K-9 Dog Trainers Association as well. With the establishment of The K9 Guy, LLC, Guy is working to make this world a better place for Central Ohio dogs and their families.
In August, 2008, Guy attended a National K9 Graduate Workshop. This annual event included the following for 2008: PetSaver Certification (Pet 1st Aid and CPR), Pack 2 Basics (a socialization program for helping aggressive dogs), plus additional dog aggression work / demonstrations / case studies / networking.
