Dog Training and Behavior - Columbus and Central Ohio

The K9 Guy - dog training Columbus, OHThe K9 Guy ® provides in home dog training, behavior modification, basic through advanced obedience (videos here), and other professional canine services throughout the Columbus and Central Ohio area. Welcome! My name is Guy Kantak, and I'm a Certified Professional Trainer working with dogs of all breeds and ages.

Living Well Together

Whatever the problem or whatever the goal, my one-on-one visits are designed to help you and your canine live well together. From simple manners to advanced obedience training, I understand that every dog and family is unique. For this reason I use a variety of techniques customized to your specific situation, goals, and your pet's particular personality. This flexibility can provide effective results where other single-method approaches may fail. All sessions are patiently and conveniently provided in your home, where both you and your dog are more relaxed. No payment for services is ever required in advance, and you only pay for those sessions you find beneficial.

It's All About Teamwork

I work with dogs and owners together as a team, with a "dual-teaching" approach at the core of every session. Dogs are helped to respect and listen to their owners, while owners are coached on ways to interact and communicate effectively with their pet.

Owner's involved with their dog's education can build stronger relationships, improve the mental and physical well-being of their dog, and establish a foundation for a safe, rewarding, and happy life together. Making effective communication and training a natural part of life with any dog, is the key to good behavior and superior results.

Need Something Else?

Although many clients call for obedience work or help to fix / correct a problem dog behavior, I do offer other services. These include simple manners (no jumping, pulling on the leash, etc.), puppy socialization and housebreaking, confidence building, preparing your pet for a new baby in the home, and helping owners to find a new dog that fits in well with their family. My educational background also includes certification in Tracking, Personal Protection, Police K-9, Scent Detection, and Assistance Dog Training, although I don't presently have time to provide all of those services.

It Starts With A Phone Call

The road to building a great life with your dog begins with a telephone call or email. Simply contact me anytime with your questions, or to schedule an initial session. Many clients are thrilled to discover a dog they never knew they had. If you'd like to experience a better life with your pet, there's no better time to start than today. Expect more - your dog will thank you !

About This Website . . .

Like many things in life, this website is a work in progress. I hope you take some time to review the material I have gathered here, and that you will find it useful. Whether you choose to use my services or those of another professional, I do appreciate your visit.

My "FAQs" page features answers to questions I often receive about my service, plus answers to other K9-related questions commonly found online. My "Videos" page features several short clips demonstrating various commands and finished obedience with one of my dogs. There's nothing special or "set up" in these clips. All of the commands were taught without any treats, and are part of daily life with my dogs. The "K9 Blog" has dozens of interesting videos and commentaries on a variety of canine topics. You can narrow topics by doing a search, selecting one of several available categories, or reviewing the archives by date. The "Health and Safety" page features tips that can help you and your pet live a healthy and happy life together. And finally, the "Dog News" page has regularly updated news videos, as well as links for live feeds to stories of interest sorted by state. A new "Dog Community" area provides publication and promotion assistance for rescue, shelter and other canine charitable organizations.

Thanks for visiting ! Guy
