A Dog's Vision

by The K9 Guy, 07-20-16

Last week I wrote an article discussing canine scenting abilities. This week I found a nice video (except for the creepy synthesized narration) that discusses a dog's vision. In a nutshell, dogs do see things differently than human beings. They have different fields of view, and the physiology of their eyes means they have varied color perception and enhanced visual acuity in low light settings.

For training purposes, these differences have little impact. However, I always encourage owners to learn as much as possible about their dogs. Considering differences is a great starting point for better understanding how they think, perceive things, and live in our shared world. Enjoy!
