Don't Shop - ADOPT on Black Friday - CHA
CHA Animal Shelter continues to promote "Don't Shop, Adopt!" during the upcoming Black Friday after Thanksgiving. On Nov. 25, CHA will open its doors from Noon until 6 p.m. with special pricing on adoption fees for dogs & puppies $25.00 and cats & kittens $5.00 all day!
During the past three years, the Black Friday adopt-a-thon has been one of the largest adoption days of the year for CHA. All CHA adoption policies apply and animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped and current on shots. For a preview of the animals available for adoption, visit http://CHAAnimalShelter.org and click on "Dogs" or "Cats."
While the upfront adoption cost may be lower, we encourage everyone to look at the long-term time and financial commitment before adopting a pet. And remember, CHA does not advocate purchasing a pet as a gift without the person's knowledge. Create a "gift certificate" or give them a leash to unwrap and suggest that you accompany them after the holidays to find the perfect pet.

Columbus Dog Connection and the "Big Give"
In a recent email....
Columbus Dog Connection is excited to be one of 600 not-for-profits in Columbus to be included in a first ever Big Give, coordinated by The Columbus Foundation. Every dollar you donate during this 24 hour time period has the potential to be doubled and donated to us. The Columbus Foundation's first 24-hour community wide giving event will occur on November 10, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., through November 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.
We've decided, any funds we receive through The Big Give, will turn into The Big Fix !
We will use all donations to help spay/neuter dogs/cats in rural areas or right here in Franklin County for feral cats/pit bulls. (you may know that we have a Mobile Spay/Neuter Truck and to ease the burden of fundraising for other rescues, we write for and share grant money to enable them to save even more dogs/cats.)
You can read more information below from The Columbus Foundation. To select our organization as the recipient of your contribution and the matching funds, search for Columbus Dog Connection from the list of participating organizations.

CHA Seeking Volunteers
In an email this week . . .
CHA Animal Shelter is so FULL of amazing opportunities for everyone!!
The support of CHA's Donors, Event Participants, Adopters, Volunteers, Shelter Visitors, Board Members, Staff and Friends is crucial to fulfilling the needs of the dogs and cats that temporarily call CHA home. Everything that is done to contribute to the happiness of our residents and maintain our fabulous facility is so appreciated!
Throughout the year, we host and attend many events of all sizes and at many venues that are not only for the enjoyment of guests and participants and to socialize the dogs and cats, but to raise awareness in the community of our mission as well as to facilitate the best care possible for the animals.
In-shelter Volunteers have the amazing opportunity to care for the dogs and cats, provide enrichment, socialize and in most cases, fall in love with them!
If you are a current Volunteer and would like to do more or if you are not currently a Volunteer, either in-shelter or at events and would like to know how to get involved, there are many ways to obtain information about our opportunities...
Visit www.chaanimalshelter.org and click on the Volunteer link
If you're new to CHA Volunteering, we will be happy to schedule you for a short orientation session, then you can participate as much or as little as your schedule will allow! CHA Volunteering is a fabulous way for students to achieve their Community Service obligations for school! Volunteers 14-16 years old need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Thanks as always for all that you do!
