Abondoned Pets
In the current economic climate, there have been an increasing number of stories relating to abandoned dogs and pets. Families who are loosing their home, having to relocate, etc. are often forced to leave a pet behind when they can no longer afford its care and feeding. In some cases abandoned dogs are being left in homes or yards when owners leave, or at a rescue facility tied to or thrown over the facility's fence. Frequently they are left without adequate (or any) shelter, food and water.
If you or someone you know needs to surrender a pet, please go through a local rescue or municipal shelter and follow their intake guidelines. Doing so will make certain any pet being left will be cared for, and have a best chance for adoption/rescue. Rescues always appreciate background information on a dog being surrendered (health, temperament, etc) vs. just finding it left on their doorstep in the morning.
