Dog DNA Used to Enforce Pooper-Scooper Rules
A condo Association in the Cleveland area is trying a new program having dog owners submit DNA samples from their pets. The Association is using a business called Poo-Poo Prints (?) to match droppings with these owner samples, presumably to enforce better pick up from owners. I thought this was a rather unusual story with what are certainly some unusual business models. But I have to ask - is this where we're at as a society?
Pet ownership is a privilege that carries certain responsibilities. I would hope most owners are good enough citizens to pick up after their pets without having to resort to DNA testing to enforce association rules or local laws. However, I've posted stories in the past where less-than-model citizens do not pick up after their dogs resulting in turmoil at parks, beaches, and many other locals. Is this a look at a brave new world?
