War Dogs and Memorial Day
Every year we celebrate Memorial Day as the unofficial start of summer. The holiday, of course, should have much deeper meaning for all Americans. I received this email today....
It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN who salutes the Flag, and it is the VETERAN who serves under the Flag.

As I do each year at this time, I think it's also fitting to remember the dogs who have (and do serve) this country - in the military, law enforcement, homeland security, SAR, etc. I encourage those of you with a few minutes of free time to do a search for "war dogs", and to visit one or more of the many interesting sites that come up ( http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=war+dogs ).
Have a safe and reflective Memorial Day.
