A New Breed of Dog Books
I had the pleasure of speaking with Ms. Duffy the other day and thought some of your would enjoy her website project and offerings....
There are many different ways to support dog rescue organizations. Some people foster, others donate money, and still others come up with creative ways to lend a hand. Take Happy Tails Books, for example, a publishing company founded by Kyla Duffy, a foster mom who wanted to do more to raise awareness about purebred and private mixed-breed dog rescue groups. Kyla developed a series of breed-specific books entitled “Lost Souls: Found!” that highlight the love and joy adopted dogs bring to their new homes through stories straight from the heart of people who have adopted. The books also serve to give insight into the breed and help others who might be challenged in working with their newly adopted dogs to realize they are not alone, and that with patience there is always progress.
In 2009, Happy Tails Books published “Lost Souls: Found!” books about Boston Terriers, Dachshunds, Golden Retrievers, Pit Bulls, and Labrador Retrievers. They also published a book entitled “Hollywood Barks!,” which has been touted as “your backstage pass to the life, times, and training of Hollywood Dogs.” From the sales of those books, the company donated more than $3,800 to 36 dog rescue groups.
The company is currently collecting stories about adopted mixed-breed and purebred Boxers, German Shepherds, Pugs, Huskies, Chihuahuas, Schnauzers, Beagles, Rottweilers, Basset Hounds, and Border Collies. Anyone interested in submitting a story can do so through the Happy Tails Books story submission page.
Rush delivery is available on the website, so it’s not too late to pick up a Happy Tails Books holiday gift. To buy books or learn more about the Happy Tails Books project, visit http://happytailsbooks.com.
