Zanesville K9 Bosco Recovering - Donations Being Accepted
Bosco, A police dog from Zanesville that was shot twice when helping serve a warrant on 08-23-09, is slowly recovering. He can reportedly stand with help, although the road to recovery will likely be a long one. Bosco is being treated at OSU's animal hospital and the first week of care is reported to cost between $6,000 - $10,000.
The Zanesville K9 Unit is supported entirely by public donations. Several area residents and groups are working on fund raisers to help pay for Bosco's care. So far, over $5,000 have been collected. Med Flight, who flew Bosco to Columbus the night of the shooting, has forgiven 90% of the $12,000 transportation fee.
Anyone wanting to donate may call 455-0700 or send donations to the Zanesville Police Department K-9 Unit, 332 South St., Zanesville, OH 43701.
