How to Spot Puppy Mill Dogs
Ran across this video today with some good information about puppy mills and spotting dogs from questionable breeders. I've discussed this topic in the past, and while many may be inclined to donate to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) because of their efforts here, I would encourage donations for local agencies that bear the brunt of dealing with many of these dogs.
The popularity of pedigreed dogs drives this industry. There are advantages to adopting outlined in this post. Mixed breeds offer one-of-a-kind uniqueness and hybrid vigor that pedigreed dogs IMO cannot match. Many people seek a certain breed of dog for its looks or reported breed traits. While this is all fine, every breed has dogs of varying personalities. Looking at an individual dog's personality, rather than its breed, is far more important in finding a good match for your family.
