Training Makes a Difference
Ran across this news video today which gives a great glimpse of a reporter's dog before and after training. The clip does a good job of making several important points...
First, training can make a huge difference in a dog's general behavior, listening skills, and manners. Second, training takes time - the more you invest in a dog's education the better the payback. Finally, if you don't keep working with a trained dog, the dog will backslide.
While the dog in this video was sent to a residency program for training, in home training focuses on helping an owner train and teach their own dog. As owner and dog work together, a very healthy communication can be forged which improves trust, understanding, and respect.

Dan - this is your 2nd reply on my website opposing training methods that require corrections. While I respect your right to have an opinion, the positive reinforcement methods touted by groups you seem to respect (APDT), are actually based on studies that are many decades old. I would also point out that purely positive methods have been by far the most popular approach to training dogs over the past 2-3 decades - and where has that gotten us and our dogs? From my perspective, there are far more troubled and dangerous dogs out there now than 20, 30, 40 or more years ago.
Using slip chains or Electronic collars in no way means a dog is being trained solely with correction. Combined with praise and help, balanced training produces dogs with greater reliability, respect, and affection. IMO, purely positive training markets to the owners and not to the needs of the dog. Kids may like candy and affection, but what kind of adults to do spoiled children become?
BTW, could you please post a video link demonstrating any dogs you have trained?
