Laparoscopic Surgery for Dogs
Just like medical care in humans, improvements are being made for pets and dogs as well.
Laparoscopic surgeries use special equipment to minimize the evasiveness of many procedures. Smaller incisions mean faster recoveries, with less pain and discomfort. The story notes that Veterinarians can now perform a relatively simple procedure to "tack" the stomach of large breed dogs with a laparoscope, preventing a life-threatening condition known as bloat (gastric torsion).

Is there such a thing as laparoscopic surgery for pericardectomy for dogs? I have a 12 year old pugg that needs a pericardectomy but worried about it being so invasive on an older dog.
