Flea Control - Facts and Fiction
Here's a brief video that discusses some common misconceptions regarding flea control for your pet. What are the truths?
- Natural products like garlic are not effective flea preventives.
- Current flea control medications available through your Veterinarian are safe for your pet and the environment.
- There is no indication that fleas are becoming resistant to any current medications used by Veterinarians.
- Non-prescription remedies available through pet stores and at groceries are often more toxic to pets and/or less effective than those you can get from your Vet.
Bottom line - if your pet needs flea prevention it's best to work with your Veterinarian to find a safe and effective product. Your Vet can also help you with an environmental approach that addresses fleas in your environment (home), not just those on your pet. In other words, a coordinated program that is both safe and effective.
