Flea Control - Facts and Fiction

Here's a brief video that discusses some common misconceptions regarding flea control for your pet. What are the truths?

1. Natural products like garlic are not effective flea preventives.
2. Current flea control medications available through your Veterinarian are safe for your pet and the environment.
3. There is no indication that fleas are becoming resistant to any current medications used by Veterinarians.
4. Non-prescription remedies available through pet stores and at groceries are often more toxic to pets and/or less effective than those you can get from your Vet.

Bottom line - if your pet needs flea prevention it's best to work with your Veterinarian to find a safe and effective product. Your Vet can also help you with an environmental approach that addresses fleas in your environment (home), not just those on your pet. In other words, a coordinated program that is both safe and effective.
