ZoomBack - Invisible Leash
Here's a brief story on a collar mounted device that provides tracking using GPS and cellular technology. Marketed for pets, the device will allow an owner to find a pet that is lost, as well as monitor a pet's location through the service's website. The site also states that text alerts for a pet straying beyond defined boundaries will be available soon.
While this technology may be useful for certain situations and/or dogs, remember that everything has its pros and cons. The battery life of the device is limited, so it can only help track your dog in real time for about 1 hour. Also, if someone intentionally takes your dog, all they need to do is remove the device. Still, for some it may be useful. Isn't modern technology interesting?
