Dog Saves Man from Fire

As if there aren't enough great reasons to get a dog, here's a story out of Indiana where a man's dog woke him during a fire in his home. Stories like this are actually fairly common.

While smoke detectors are certainly important, recent studies have found that a large number of children do not wake up from the sound of a smoke detector alone. It would interesting to study whether dogs would have better luck in such circumstances.

In any event, this story gives the notion of "watchdog" a whole new dimension.
