Do It Yourself Dog Training
As I work with various dogs and owners it occurs to me how much art there is in training and helping dogs. As I see dogs and work through various problems, "reading" them really becomes very interesting. Every move you make with a dog, every request, your words, tone of voice, body language - they all hold meaning for the dog.
I may not always read a dog right the first moment, but it's a process where I keep watching the dog - I making adjustments, find ways to open channels of communication, and help the dog understand what it is I want of him/her.
I certainly encourage owners to work with and train their pets, but having someone help who can read your dog well and get you both "talking and walking" together can be a great advantage. Someone who works with dogs regularly can see so many little things that are important in developing good communication, trust, respect... They can definitely help you see these little cues, respond to them properly, and begin talking with your dog in ways you may never find using a "do it yourself" approach.
Have a good dog day!
