New Parvo Variant Discoverd In US

CPV type 2c variant has been identified in the United States by researchers at the Oklahoma State University. While this variant was known previously in Italy, the OSU researchers found a dog with the virus in their clinic last year. Since that time about 80 other cases have been identified throughout the US.

Current test for Parvo will not identify this new variant. Researchers are pushing for changes in testing to include this variant, as well as further research on treatments and vaccinations. The new variant currently has a higher mortality rate.
